Olympics! Teams and individuals competing against each other. Blood, sweat and tears:)Culmination of years of effort to be the best!
"The Universe is a huge equation that will balance itself in many possible ways. We choose the way of receiving our share of this equation individually and collectively. Karmic substitutions may also happen on a planetary level. It is my opinion that international sports events such as the Olympics and World Cups of different kinds may serve as substitutes for military conflicts between nations as well as individual participants."WoW, page 60.
Such competition is, in my opinion, preferable and a substitution for war or mortal combat but it still perpetuates the old paradigm of winner and looser. Is it time to start playing an infinite game?
"Learn to play an infinite game। Such a game is characterized by the effort of two players keeping the game going, as opposed to a finite game where two players try to beat one another. You might wonder if such a game can be rewarding. It may indeed! One day I found myself playing ping-pong with my son, Philip. We adjusted the rules a bit. Volley was allowed as well as bouncing a ball off any wall or object. We made the object of the game to keep the ball in play, returning it to the table as quickly as possible. No score was kept. We played for about half an hour and it was a very rewarding experience, physically and mentally. Perhaps the best game of my life! Some claim that we can’t feel pleasure if don’t know pain. I disagree. I once heard a great financial guru say that making money does not really matter to him. It is just a means of keeping score. We don’t need to keep score. Play an infinite game where there is no winner or loser, where two players help each other to keep the game going!

The Infinite Game where two players help each other to keep a game going is an interesting concept. As mentioned, there is no no winner or loser in such a game. A major social paradigm shift needs to occur before this concept becomes mainstream.
The competitive mindset is deeply enbeded into our collective and individual psyche but I believe
that "unlearning" might not be that difficult:)
